Has there been any talk about whats happening with DWZ after next season.
With reports that we're paying him 400k of his 800k salary, he must be looking at 500k minimum on his next contract with how he's playing.
Do we keep him on a high wage for a winger, chase JAC on a cut price offer or promote a winger we've already got on contract?

A player is only worth what other sides are willing to pay. I'd guarantee no Aussie club would pay DWZ much more than $350k-$400k. JAC is on about $500k, and has twice the pull off the pitch.

Bunty has been saying he needs to improve every season. It's time for the club and bunty to move on.
he always starts the season well , seems to get a step, a offload, looks like a metre eater than I think the rest of the comp catches up and he just plods along rest of the season... tbh most games I would have started Afoa with Addin, let him do all the donkey work and than brought on Barnett to have that mongrel, speed and extra omp we need after twenty.... I like Afoa for what he is, but Ale and others can pretty much do that same job now... so its a hard one cause hes been around so long, glad i dont make these decisions.... but like others we need upgrading in certain areas to go up a new level

dont get why you guys would be looking to move curran on seems to go pretty well and as long as the 480k doesnt have a ratchet clause its pretty good value in a 12m salary cap for what he offers
$12m cap divided by 30 players is a $400,000 average. So in theory the 15th player would average $400,000 (so down to bench players).

But to utilise the cap you need a majority under the average to pay your top half dozen superstars big money.

Therefore all bench players should probably be paid under $400k and all starters above $400k.

Curren as a starter would be worth $480k. Curren forced to the bench is paid about $100k to much.

Well Dylan Walker for starters is way above that. We have some heavy contracts for some of our players tbh.

I expect that even if Curran goes, that cap space would be going to extend some of the players in our first grade team who are below first grade starting salaries I.e. Ford, Berry, Metcalf (if he re-signs).

you guys have a pretty cut price spine i would have thought 2.1m or there abouts i wouldnt think paying your stars would be pushing your cap that hard

walker really gives good value covers almost every position outside prop FB and wing gives you the luxury of not having to carry another hooker on the bench

Add in AFB and Tohu who I think are worth the money. Niukore who is overpaid. Be interesting to know what RTS is coming back on but you would hope it wouldn't be extreme since he is playing center.

I'm actually struggling to understand why we would want to let Curran go. Only 23, still developing and will be a weapon in coming seasons, not overly expensive, likes NZ. I'm really not going to be happy if he moves on for next season

just getting to the age where he has done his reps and should kick on

Walkers a special case as he’s a halves type hybrid.

AFB, Tohu, Egan, Niukore will be highly remunerated.

SJ, Walker, CNK, RTS, Barnett, TMM?, Metcalf?would be above $500k?

Most of the rest of the starting team would be $400-$500k. About where Curren would sit as a starter - except he’s not starting.

A few bargains like Berry, Ford in the starting team on unders but probably a few like Volkman on high money in reserves.

Curran was never, in this lifetime or the next, going to replace Tohu.

He's reportedly had questionable attitude and discipline.

His level of production doesn't match his salary when you can get similar or more while developing players for the future.

He's just not as good as some want to believe, Bunty, Kosi, and Ale too.

These guys are just filling a hole until their replacements come through. Looks like Webby believes that replacement is ready to come through sooner than we thought.

Can’t recall what year it was but he was absolutely killing it in the 13 jersey.
Was getting spoken about a Blues call up.
He was a workhorse in the middle. Not a fan of how he has been played this year but obviously Tohu has been fantastic.
If he has attitude problems I agree with letting him go though.

He was never realistically getting in the Blues, 2nd Row and Lock are where they are incredibly stacked.
