With Curran being told he is free to talk to other clubs, what does that mean for his contract in '24? Will he be paid out if he leaves or can we ask for something in return if a club wants to take him?

If Metcalf was a Kiwi you would be creaming your panties over him.

For a guy who doesn't pass he has done alright with 6 line break assists and 3 try assists and oh yea 6 tries as well.

Unfortunately TMM has been invisible since he came to the Warriors, go back and watch some games, you won't even realise he is playing unless you really watch for him.

Your probably one of these guys saying your glad Reece Walsh left cause he can't tackle and makes too many mistakes 😂

But Reece Walsh does make too many mistakes and he can't tackle though hahaha

I will say, I wasn't glad he left necessarily, but was definitely in the camp of being too harsh on him, along with 95% of everyone else on the forum.

Anyway lol

6 tries is nice and all, but they are just off his (undeniably awesome) support play and then all he has to do is run it in. The only one I think he created himself was the scoot against the Eels which I think we can all agree was fucking lucky to have worked out

3 try assists and 6 line break assists, yeah sure, but I’m not rushing to resign those numbers before the season, let alone November 1st. I would like to see him keep his hammies intact for longer than a few months, and for him to stop the “hero ball” before entertaining the idea.

The left side did fade away as the year went on. Be that Luke getting the ball to them, or because Pompey and Marcelo secured the bag around the same time, I think both are partly true.

I’ll also say actually not fully board the Te Maire Martin train either really (**anymore), though I still think he should and will be getting the first shot.. I’m tipping a certain guy that quite literally tackles his balls off 👀🥜

The club wont be moving Metcalf on

He will be starting as soon as he is fit.

Oh hey, sorry Andrew I didn't know you frequented the forum, welcome! 🙄

He was injured at the start of the year, played 12 games for us and was injured again. I personally don't think his play warrants a significant upgrade, so were in a pretty iffy spot - do we upgrade him and keep him longer, or run the risk of him going to market come November and likely lose him as a few other clubs would have him starting.

My guess is that it's not a case of us being desperate to unload him. If that's correct and it's also correct that more than one other club wants to have him then I would hope we won't be paying freight.

I am shattered by the news that Curran could be leaving. I remember watching the team during Covid and watching Curran turn into a weapon of a player. He’s explosive, agile, runs great lines, has great footy IQ, brings blood and effort to a team desperately needed. He loves NZ too which hurts even more. A fan favourite and I will not be happy seeing him in a jersey that ain’t the Wahs. This sucks 😂

Heart says keep Curren but head says were stacked in his position. Ford will only get better with another Webster preseason and Niukore is a level above Curren when he clicks.

If Curren leaving allows us to snap up a prop, we have Barnett to cover prop/ second row and it provides opportunities for the youngsters as well.

I hope Curren has a blinder without the trial hanging over him next season and I suggest he gets Browny in as a mentor, as he was able to get the best out of him.

Curran gave great service during the COVID years, and we gave him his first proper shot in first grade. Been a beneficial relationship for both parties.

I hope that we don't have to carry any of his cash if we release him early though.

Carrying salary is pretty rare.

DWZ on $800k - you are never going to get someone to take that up so Doggies had to pay

Curran on maybe $600k? Don't think we will have any issues with him picking up something similar
