Politics 🤡 Donald Trump

🤖 Thread Summary

j_p #206276 sharing a news article about New Zealand woman Sarah Shaw and her six-year-old son being detained by US immigration authorities. sup42 #206285 attributed the detention to racial profiling, claiming Shaw's olive complexion led to discriminatory treatment in what they called a "white supremacist fascist state." MrFrankWhite #206287 countered with a more procedural explanation, suggesting the issue stemmed from visa complications rather than racial bias, noting that Shaw's lawyer cited an "administrative error" with her temporary immigration document. juju #206296 challenged this assessment, arguing that detaining a mother and child for weeks over a clerical issue was excessive and indicated systemic problems with ICE procedures.

The conversation later shifted to broader Trump-related topics, MaybeTop8 #209467 sharing news about Trump firing DIA director Jeffrey Kruse following an Iran nuclear strike report. miket12 #209592 characterized Trump as "a spoiled brat who doesn't like being contradicted." More recently, MrFrankWhite #210608 introduced an unrelated incident involving Rampage Jackson's son Raja Jackson allegedly assaulting a wrestler during a live stream, suggesting it could escalate tensions in the US. However, sup42 #210627 and other users questioned the relevance of this incident to the Trump discussion thread, Noitall #210636 admitting uncertainty about the connection.

If Russia are small time nobodies, why are they dictating the terms? America seems to be only willing to have them come out the conflict with what they want to the point America has labelled the Ukrainian leader a dictator. Some on here will agree, but any normal person knows that’s a load of shit
Watch the plot of WWE.

Good guys are bad guys sometimes and you just need to look at someone and your character flips. Everyone’s good and everyone can be bad, just depends on the storyline.

All friends behind the scenes.

Don’t worry, I thought WWE was real as a kid as well 😉

Good on you for having a unique view on things. Your strategy on the politics thread this morning was as head scratching as this take. Vince McMahon very much in vein of trump though

Must be hard taking it all so seriously.

They are all intelligent people playing games.

If you can’t see that by the way Trump acts you must have loved WWE!

If you can’t see there’s a trade war going on, you’ve got your head in the sand. America now our second biggest trading partner behind China. That with the race for ai technology and Taiwan’s importance should be all you need to know. I can see why you’re in denial and think everyone is just having a laugh and best mates behind closed doors, hopefully you’re right

Hey, there’s definitely power plays going on. Countries are trying to do what’s best for their themselves.

Even in pro wrestling the script was decided by how over you were with the crowd (over time) and you had to perform!

The thing is if everyone’s working in their own self interest there’s not going to be a WW3. We all know countries with McDonalds don’t attack each other. Capitalism makes us all to interdependent on each other.

An example: I compete with my main competition in business. We have a war for customer.. But it’s business and not personal. I don’t want to ho burn down their premises even though that would win me the war. Behind the scenes I like the guy. But I still want to take as many of his customers as possible! And ultimately, like with a food court, having the competition makes us both stronger and better off and we both benefit - really think that through!

So there are power plays going on but ultimately the economies and businesses within each country will have a bigger effect than anything Trump does. Most of his talk is theatre and aimed at his voters (his customers) not anything meaningful. The 25% Tarrifs on Canada is the ultimate example. Building a wall and getting Mexico to pay for it was last terms peak example. Showmanship and finding things the media will latch onto to appeal to his voters.

Trump doesn’t want war. He wants heels.

US backing Russia militarily?

Where do you get this rubbish? Trump invading Europe next? 🙄

It's a scenario, as he outlines very clearly. And a very plausible one given what we're seeing.

By the way, the right leaning, and let's face it, far right leaning posters in the politics forum have been very quiet on the outright fascism, authoritarianism, oligarch takeover and destruction of the American system, and other areas of the world including ACT here in New Zealand.

All of that is happening, right now.

This is all from the right and far right political spectrum.
