Saw Tom Morello as apart of the e street band. Crazy sound wiping the strings
Nice, wouldnt have picked that collaboration (Springstein is in the Knopfler song too incidently) Morello has one of the most distinctive tones going. Love GnR but cant say i ever rated them live, always seemed a bit sloppy and didnt think they had the best sound going......as for Queen well at their peak was probably the best live act in the business.....saw the Adam Lambert version as well and it still rocked.

Sad to see Herbs band member Willie Hona has passed away. A treasure of NZ that group

New Zealand music legend Willie Hona of Herbs has died

New Zealand music legend Willie Hona has died.

The singer-guitarist had a dynamic career, and most famously was a member of the iconic reggae band Herbs.

In a post to social media, that has since been verified by several of Hona’s friends, Hona’s daughter, Natalie Hona, said her father died Sunday night surrounded by his whānau in Paraparaumu.

His death comes following a battle with cancer.

Hona’s friends, including former Herbs band member Toni Fonoti, have paid tribute to him on social media.

An AudioCulture biography by Glen Moffatt said Hona formed his first band The Vibrations at high school, where his guitar was made out of an old desktop with the neck of an Antoria guitar.

From there, he formed the band The Face alongside musicians including New Zealander Mark Williams.

Hona joined Herbs in 1983 and were known for Long Ago, Sensitive to a Smile and Light of the Pacific and addressed the issue of French nuclear testing in the Pacific in their work.

AudioCulture said after Hona left the band at the end of 1988, he toured under his own steam and released the album Keep An Open Heart.

In 2012, Hona was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame as part of Herbs.

Hona’s grandson Lewis Contini spoke to RNZ in 2021.

"One day you'll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember" -how does that make sense?

Anyway, RIP to the guy, seemed like a good dude.

Wow. I didnt know he passed. Must have been dealing with some real demons within.
All that popularity and fam. Goes to show. Simple things in life is the answer to happiness. Starting with your health.

Apparently he had severe anxiety disorders he couldn't conquer, pretty sad in the context of this song. Sorry bro hope I haven't ruined it for you.

In Auckland for Iron Maiden tonight, been 4 years since their Covid gig was canned, but at least they actually came back (unlike the 4 or so other bands I had booked that fateful year  )

They were old as hell when I last saw them in Chch in 2016 but still put on an amazing show so will be interesting to see how they still hold up as even older than heller
My only hope is they play Run To The Hills (which they didn't play in Chch which was my only disappointment), hoping they pull that one out of the bag tonight #uptheirons 🤘

I didn't realise it they were coming until someone asked at work if I was going. I looked into it and then saw the prices.

The setlist for this tour is a mix of Somewhere in Time and Senjutsu.

I really should have sorted out going as they have been a band I've listened to a lot in recent years. I never really got into them heavily when I was young.

Seeing Iron Maiden play Fear of the Dark live would be special. For those who don't really listen to Iron Maiden look up Fear of the Dark live clips on YouTube. The crowd singing along to it at different parts is amazing.

The other thing seeing them live I'd get a kick out of would be UFO's Doctor Doctor getting blasted out before they come on.

Have a great night.

I've seen alot of people walking around in their Iron Maiden T Shirts today - cool to see what an Iconic band brings to a city when they visit.
